COURSE RATIONALE
Introduces students to the fundamentals of Dance Composition as well as the elements of dance to elevate their choreography.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
This unit provides students with an introduction to the fundamentals of dance performance techniques and their manipulation based on the different settings (on-stage, on-screen/in front of a camera, audition preparation, competition). Students will complete weekly studies and creative exercises exploring these techniques and finish the course with a digital portfolio of completed exercises.

At the completion of this unit a student should be able to:

CREATIVE PORTFOLIO
Online portfolio - google drive (compilation of videos)
Online Creative Digital Portfolio will consist of 4 set routines that will be pre-recorded by the teacher. Students will learn the choreography via the pre-recorded videos. Students will be required to submit 2 videos of the learned choreography of the week:
A video to showcase the generation, manipulation, abstraction, and organisation of movement. The specific brief for each exercise is given in the weekly session. The brief of the performance: The submission for each exercise should be: Video files in MP4
Students will need to provide a written summary of their understanding of the dance performance techniques used for the choreography learned for the week.
Students will receive weekly in-class feedback and written teacher feedback.
Creativity requires self-motivation and disciplined practice. You are required to present work (or work-in-progress) in class each week so as to:
